Week 5 blog

The Net Generation is described as being experiential, engaged and constantly with a need for immedicacy. Therefore, their learning environment should be active, social and learner centered.

In order for me, as a teacher to be successful with the net generation I will have to be creative with my lessons by developing and using material for interactive technology. This will give my students the opportunity to experience with learning and practice (hands on). Also, help them to have some responsibility in their own learning. Thus, I will have open up new and engaging ways for them to learn.

Because of all the new technilogical advances, I will have to teach my student by example to be responsibile ethincally while using those devices and/or programs. All in all, what my students learn while they are in school will carryover into their adult life and help them to be socially responsible and creative adults.

  1. Note: I just wanted to make a note of my observance of one of the elementary schools that I have been subing at; they only do computer work in math and reading. One school that I substituted at had only one technology teacher and he was a 5th grade teacher and was teaching his class when the computer went out,so he had to excuse himself to come to the computer room to fix the computer; because the classes only have a class period time in the computer room. I think that it would be beneficial if all the teacher had computer training and if the students could use the computer for more activities. Also, if a teacher or principal would write grants to get more computers in the classroom the teachers could integrate that into their lesson plans.
