week 5 blog

Response to articles on RSS

As a teacher Rss would be good for me and my studentss because it is an efficient way for me to post classwork and activities and for my students to retrieve it. Also, I would be able to setup websites for the students to go on and they could receive daily updated web information from those sites. This would make it easier for me to weed out the junk sites, especially if the students were doing a class research project. Thus, I would setup a blog for the class to use and also post websites that I think would be useful for elementary students.

Chapter 8 response

In order for me to be sucessful with the net generation I would have to make my lesson plans relevant to the students experiences and engaging; thus, based on standards. Also, I will have to teach the student to be responsible when using technological programs and gadgets.

Also, through professional development programs, I can learn and keep up to date on new programs and teach my student new programs and different ways they can apply them to classwork. I will be a model of a lifelong learner for my students. This will help my student to be lifelong learners and motivate them to use higher learning skills and excell.

week four post

Google apps could help me as a teacher in the classroom because it is a shared community whereby I could get tips on lesson plans and different activities during the school year. There is also, 24 hrs technical support and coolaboration.

As a teacher, I can also use the templates, lesson plans, and the online calendar and blogs to supplement my lessons. I could setup a classroom website to post the students homework, assignments and grades so that the students and their parents would be able to keep up to date with their progress during the school year.

Lesson Plan Summary

  1. Choose Your Own Adventure Story Grades 4-6

Students work in pairs to create a story about a leprechaun. Partners will brainstorm using a on line flow chart to lay out their story. Then they will use the google docs' presentation tools to create slides and give their presentation to the class.

Standards
1 Creativity and Innobation
2 Communication and Collaboration
3 Research and information Fluency
5 Digital citizenship

2. Historical Novel Grades 4-6

Students will work in groups studying a historical article from the American Revolution using Google docs for lesson research, quizzes and classroom activities. The students will have research and make up a timeline leading up to and during the American Revolution War. They will have to gather information and present it to the class as their final project. The assignment will be divided between the groups so that everyone has a different assignment. Also, they will be quizzed on the American Revolution.

Week 3 blog

To me the language that many of the students speak is practical for the world in which they live because the world is changing and evolving into something new everyday. Everything is fast paste and readily available. Also, I think that it is better because of technological advances we have everything at our fingertips and convience thru the use of ipods, cellphones, webcams and etc.

My perspective is the same as the students because of the flexibility and multitasking opportunities that technology allows. I can get more things done in a short time and also use my creativity. Thus, I can be an active learner.

Google Docs is a free web program offered by Google which allows its user to create and communicate with other users thru word processing and spreadsheets document. Google Docs is considered a R/W program because it allows users to communicate in real time. I never used this program but would like to have the opportunity to use it one day.

Some of the R/W tools that I learned about are Web 2.0, pod casting, and webcam. I have not used any of these but would like to explore the use of them in the future. I eventually want to learn and produce digital and video cartoons on black history lessons for kids.
